SAP and Syngenta launch a multiyear AI partnership to modernize operations and deliver smarter tools to farmers worldwide
16 Jan 2026

Two global heavyweights are betting that artificial intelligence belongs at the center of modern agriculture. SAP and Syngenta have struck a multiyear partnership to weave AI through every layer of Syngenta’s operations, from manufacturing and logistics to the digital tools used by farmers in the field.
At the core is a cloud-first overhaul of Syngenta’s enterprise systems. The company is rolling out SAP Cloud ERP Private alongside SAP Business Data Cloud, creating a unified data backbone designed for real-time analysis and scalable AI. On top of that foundation, tools like the Joule copilot are set to sharpen decision-making, streamline workflows, and speed up product development.
The timing reflects mounting pressure across the food system. Climate swings, fragile supply chains, and rising demand are forcing agricultural companies to rethink how they operate. With a presence in more than 90 countries, Syngenta sits at a scale where even incremental improvements can ripple outward, influencing outcomes on farms worldwide.
Both companies are also emphasizing data governance as a central pillar. Syngenta says farmers will retain ownership of their data as AI capabilities expand, a critical assurance as digital tools become more deeply embedded in day-to-day farming decisions.
What sets this alliance apart is its ambition. Rather than treating AI as an add-on, Syngenta is recasting it as the operating logic of the business. For growers and agronomists, that shift could translate into faster recommendations, steadier supply, and services that respond more quickly to changing conditions.
As the global food system strains toward mid-century demand, this partnership offers a clear signal. The future of agriculture may depend less on isolated innovations and more on deeply integrated intelligence that connects enterprise systems directly to the soil.
